Hi there. Do you like the new-look Forest Poppy blog and website? I hope so – I’m very excited about it. In fact I’m completely over-excited at the moment!
I have to confess though that it only takes one or two new things to have me in a happy frenzy. I love getting stuck into a new idea – research, planning, dreaming. Sorting out the final details and putting it all into action? That’s a bit more of a struggle. I think I used to drive some of my work colleagues nuts because (and this is a massive generalisation, but there is some truth in it) foresters tend to be a pretty conservative bunch…….and will often take a while to warm to new ideas or changes, but I’d be there jiggling up and down at the thought of a new plan or system. That’s not to say I don’t value the tried and tested, there’s undoubtedly a lot to be said for it too – I just like the thought of a fresh new start (I’m pretty sure John holds his breath whenever he sees that glint in my eye which suggests I’m dreaming up a new plan. He is very tolerant of my daft schemes, I think he has learnt that if he keeps quiet it may all fizzle out and I’ll be onto the next new idea before long). How about you? Do you enjoy the new too?
I have been hoping for a revamped Forest Poppy blog, logo and so on for a little while and this set-up gives me the potential to develop a website in the future too*. I’d be delighted if you could let me know what you think. Especially if you spot any problems from your side, there may well be some glitches on different platforms and so on.
My other big new news is that I have a design in this month’s Love Patchwork and Quilting magazine (Issue 15). I know this will now seem very biased but it really is my favourite sewing magazine and the only one I currently buy. The styling and designs are just beautiful and I always find something of interest. I only know that the current issue is hitting doormats because of lovely comments on Instagram**, from Jo mybearpaw and Karen blueberryathome. I’m holding my breath until my copy pops through the door – that may be for a while as it seems to take quite a long time for the post to get north of Inverness! Please Mr Postie, don’t keep me in suspense too much longer – otherwise I might pop!
And, lastly, I have a special offer to share. Spoonflower (a design-your -own fabric company – for those who aren’t familiar with it) has an offer of 2 for 1 on fat quarters until 12 November. I’m busy putting together costings for a custom quilt and my customer has picked a few Spoonflower fabrics so I’ll be jumping in fast to place an order while there is such a great deal.
* Jeni has expertly taken care of the blog migration to WordPress, something I could never have done myself. And Becca is responsible for my lovely new look. Thanks so much to them both and I’d definitely recommend them if you’re looking for some changes.
** I’m a real newbie over on instagram – @forespoppy….looking quite empty and lonely but will be filling up soon!
