Hi all. I’ve got lots to share today so I’m afraid I’ll be stretching my attention span (and yours?!), definitely mine, with three completely unrelated topics. Here goes::
We had the most fabby night away camping last weekend. We don’t get away in the tent nearly enough but we decided to set a date in the calendar and just go for it. And it really paid off. We had a wonderful time and found a great spot. I’ll share it with you if you promise not to tell too many people about it!
Having said that the facilities were somewhat basic (toilets = 2x portaloos, and showers in an old trailer!) so may not be everyones cup-of-tea. We found Tibbie Shiels, in the Scottish Borders, after hunting for somewhere that definitely wasn’t a caravan park. We had a miserable night a couple of years ago at a huge static caravan park near Berwick on Tweed – beautiful town and lovely trip but we’ve sworn never to go somwehere like that again.
Tibbie Shiels is the opposite. Its an old, old pub between two lochs in an isolated spot and the campsite is the field next to the pub. There was only 1 other tent apart from us. No cars allowed in the field so the boys were free to run around and play football and cricket. Islay pottered around by the loch throwing stones and we sat back and watched them all!
Sorry for dodgy photo quality – I still haven’t made peace with my camera.
2. Calling all quilters
Maria and I are looking for the last few people to make up our Fresh and Funky Quilting Bee (there’s lots more info in my last post). So, if you’ve been mulling it over please just jump in and give it a go – its going to be fun and I know that I at least will learn loads along the way as well as making some new friends.
If its not your thing or you are too busy to join in perhaps you could spread the word to anyone who might be interested?
3. Raising money for Cancer Research
A wee while ago I mentioned the raffle Abby is organising to raise money for Cancer Research (www.justgiving.com/abby-and-friends). The total is now over £300 and Abby is hoping to get it to £400 by Sunday (the raffle will be drawn at 8pm Sunday UK time). Pop over and have a look at the great treats you could win. Thanks so much.
Well, here’s to another fantastic weekend. Its beautiful here today – sunny, warm and still. Long may it continue.
