Life is taking over a bit at the moment so I’ll probably continue to be a bit quiet on the blogging front for the next fortnight or so.
Mainly its because I’ve got a 3 week session of pretending I’m a real person in the real working world. Since Islay was born 3 years ago I’ve been on a career break from my work as a forester with Forestry Commission Scotland. Part of the deal with my break is that I do 2 weeks ‘Keeping in Touch’ each year.
This year I’m spreading it over 3 weeks doing 3 days each week. John is looking after the kids this week and next and mum will have them the third week. It is actually a great idea and will make going back to work at the end a great deal easier. And I’m so lucky to have the option to do this rather than to have to hand in my notice in order to have a bit of time with the children.
Needless to say though going back into work is a bit of a shock to the system. Tuesday was the first day and by the end my brain was telling me in no uncertain terms, by throwing a thumping headache at me, that it was somewhat horrified and not prepared to co-operate. Islay slept badly Tuesday night so I was a bit apprehensive how I’d be on Wednesday but brains must be very adaptable things and mine decided it was willing to pretend it knew what it was doing again. And so, hopefully, by the end of my 9 days I’ll have got the 2009/10 Annual Review written (which is a great way of finding out what has been happening across the organisation over the last 12 months) and my brain can go back to slumbering along until this time next year……by which time I’ll be panicking about leaving my little girl as I’m due back to work Autumn 2011 once she starts school. Best try not to think about it.
As a bit of light entertainment I thought I’d add a shot of me emerging from one of the water sessions in last month’s run. I think this was towards the end and I have to say by this stage I’d really had enough of getting wet! Oh, and all six of us had pink tutus so its not just me who’s mad….its perhaps not the most flattering pic but never mind!
Bye for now and take care.
